High Holiday and Sukkot Service Times and Events

The High Holidays are a time for reflection, prayer, wishing friends a Shana Tova, and the start to a brand new year filled with possibilities. Whether you are a regular service davener, a person who comes twice a year, or someone who has not been to services in several years, please join the Temple Shalom family for the start of a Shana Tovah Um'tukah; a happy and healthy New Year.

In addition to the standard services we have several other programs: Family services, a Sukkot dinner, and a Simchat Torah celebration for all ages. You can find out the times for all these events below or you can download a PDF with all the information.

Click here for a PDF with all the service and event times including children's services and events.

It is forbidden to live in a town that does not have a green garden.

(Jerusalem Talmud, Kiddushin 4:12)

The whole thing began with a little seedling of an idea at a Social Action meeting long ago. We’d build raised beds, tiny hands would sow the seeds, blossoming flowers could be cut and grace the bima on Shabbat.  Most importantly, harvested vegetables would donated to the heading Home Shelter in Medford. The children in the Hebrew school voted on a name for the garden. How appropriate that they called it Gan Tzedakah.

Jewish Learning for Parents of Young Children

Temple Shalom in Medford is thrilled to be the only synagogue North of Boston to be offering families the opportunity to take part in Ikkarim, Jewish adult learning for parents of young children.

Parenting is awe-inspiring.  Beyond the practical issues of how to get your baby or toddler to go to sleep, parenting invokes in all of us deeper questions about meaning, core values, and the world around us.

See what people are saying about us...

I had lived in Medford for the past 15 years as a single Jewish person and I had been looking for a temple off and on. I knew I wanted something that was conservative, and yet modern. In the past, I visited Temple Shalom along with several other temples in the area. To me, Temple Shalom felt steeped in tradition, proud of its long history in Medford. It still is all that- they have an amazing amount of respect for the elder’s in their community who have created and sustained the temple. However, I also feel that recently Temple Shalom has made a real effort to do more to welcome new members. They engage families from the start, especially those with young children. Many of the "new members" of Temple Shalom are interfaith marriages with young children such as ours, and the Temple embraces this diversity.
